Project Overview
Aftab Park is a vibrant neighborhood park located in the heart of Fishvar's residential area, approximately 42 kilometers west of Ewaz in southern Fars Province. The project responds to a critical community need—the city's only existing park (a forest park) was situated outside the residential fabric, making it inaccessible for regular use by various age groups.
Fishvar's distinctive physical urban structure

Design Concept

The park’s design concept draws direct inspiration from Fishvar’s distinctive physical urban structure, which resembles a collection of islands positioned adjacent to one another. This archipelago-like pattern informed the spatial organization and circulation pathways throughout the site, creating a design that resonates with local urban patterns.

Key design features

Social and Cultural Integration

A primary objective of the project was to create a vibrant social environment that would attract and serve all age groups within the community. Key design features focused on strengthening local identity and social cohesion include:

  1. Reinterpretation of traditional local games through contemporary play equipment, preserving cultural heritage while providing modern recreational experiences
  2. Dedicated spaces for seasonal exhibitions and community gatherings to showcase local crafts and traditions
  3. Multi-purpose street sports facilities designed for amateur athletes, encouraging physical activity and social interaction
  4. A book café and dedicated reading areas that promote literacy and provide comfortable spaces for literary gatherings
Vibrant Colors

Visual Identity

The park’s color palette plays a vital role in its visual character, deliberately echoing the vibrant colors found in Fishvar’s traditional clothing and handicrafts. This chromatic approach not only creates visually stimulating spaces but also strengthens the park’s connection to local cultural identity.

Climate-responsive Dry-landscape

Landscape Approach

The landscape design employs a climate-responsive dry-landscape approach appropriate for the region’s environmental conditions:

  1. Emphasis on native plant species, particularly date palm trees, reinforcing the local ecological context
  2. Comprehensive rainwater harvesting system integrated throughout the site to collect and store precipitation
  3. Sustainable water management that utilizes harvested rainwater for irrigation, reducing dependence on municipal water supplies
